Christine T. Bushyhead, Shareholder
With more than 20 years of legal experience representing both public and private sector interests, Christine Treat Bushyhead offers clients an advantageous 360° perspective. Focusing on areas of municipal law, real estate transactions, and economic development incentives, along with land use and public works, her clients range from international big-box retailers and municipalities to small business owners and private landholders.
Christine joined the firm of MKL in 2011, after transitioning to private practice as a partner with White Goss Bowers March Schulte & Weisenfels in 2000. Prior to entering the private sector, she held positions for the cities of Gladstone and Lee's Summit, Missouri as in-house city counselor and city attorney, respectively. In addition to her current role on the advisory board of the Lee's Summit Economic Development Council, Christine has also served as an elected city council member for the city of Lee's Summit and led projects relating to the city's downtown master planning and community development. In addition to her extensive work with the city of Lee's Summit, she has also contributed to economic development and community planning projects in Belton, Columbia, Gladstone, and Liberty, Missouri.
Christine is a recipient of the Lou Czech Award, presented by the Missouri Municipal Attorneys Association each year to an individual displaying high standards of accomplishment, professionalism, and ethical conduct while serving the public's interests. Additionally, she is a frequent lecturer and often speaks on behalf of the Missouri Municipal League. Christine serves on a number of advisory boards and commissions, where she is known for her in-depth understanding of complex legal issues, as well as her steadfast integrity and unwavering accessibility.
Born in Cedar Rapids, Iowa on October 20, 1960, Christine grew up primarily in Hannibal and Kansas City, Missouri. She graduated from the University of Missouri – Kansas City with a B.A. in Political Science in 1983, and a J.D. in 1986. Currently, Christine resides in Lee's Summit with her husband, Bob, and son, Parker.
